Advancing Poultry Genetics: Insights into Genomic Selection and Microbiome Dynamics
12th European Symposium on Poultry Genetics
Dr. Valentin Kremer delivered a presentation at the 12th European Symposium on Poultry Genetics in Hannover last week. The scientific agenda covered diverse topics, including genetic engineering in poultry, genetic resources, breeding constraints, welfare enhancement through genetic approaches, novel phenotyping methods in poultry breeding, and advancements in genomics for various bird species.
As invited speaker, Valentin specifically addressed the audience on the recent progress in Genomic Selection within Turkey Breeding. Dr Richard Bailey also shared a presentation discussing the role of the intestinal microbiome in different environments; he highlighted how the bacterial populations change throughout the life of the turkey across a range of different environments in both the UK and USA breeding programs.
