Aviagen Turkeys has a successful and well-established genetic selection program that consistently promotes continuous improvements in robustness and overall health of our poultry, while providing our birds with the highest quality care and welfare standards. We continue to improve liveability and general health in our birds as we advance their performance in a responsible manner.
As a result of our extensive research and welfare programs, we further expand our knowledge and expertise of their feeding, nutritional, physical, and environmental needs and the effect these factors have on the overall good health of the birds. Aviagen Turkeys shares this expert knowledge and flock management practices with customers to promote the best health, welfare, and performance for all generations of Aviagen Turkeys stock.
Aviagen Turkeys educates and trains all our employees on proper care and handling procedures of birds. All employees and contract farmers involved with the handling of birds must comply with company policies and understand their responsibilities to ensure the welfare of the birds in their care. Aviagen Turkeys will not tolerate violations of our animal welfare policies or procedures.
Sustainability
Aviagen Turkeys is committed to developing breeds and adopting internal production practices that not only support cost-effective food production, but also supports social responsibility and environmental sustainability. Aviagen Turkeys is proud to be a leader in both new technologies and environmental stewardship. We will continue to supply the world with a valuable protein source while minimizing environmental impact and emphasizing conservation.
CODE-EFABAR
Animal breeding and reproduction form a vital part of the European food production systems. Across Europe, millions of animals are bred every year, including beef and dairy cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, laying hens and many different species of fish. The companies, cooperatives and organisations that breed animals in Europe are working to provide the highest standards of health, welfare, safety and sustainability.
Code-EFABAR is a voluntary initiative of best practices to be used by EFFAB members that commit to defined criteria of responsible breeding of livestock species. It was introduced in 2006 and is reviewed and updated every three years.
