In February ATL’s Company Veterinarian, Dr Wiebke Oellrich attended the Osnabrücker Poultry Symposium in Germany alongside 350 participants.
This is organised by Hochschule Osnabrück - University of Applied Sciences and the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hannover. It has been held annually since 2009 as a platform for exchange and discussion on current topics in poultry management.
The symposium covered practical aspects and was made up of specialist lectures, keynote speeches, discussions and workshops.
Wiebke was involved in a workshop where she spoke about genetics, performance of breeds, as well as product and process safety and the challenges the industry faces ahead.
Other presentations included, ‘Current developments with Avian Influenza’, ‘Loading and transport of commercial poultry’, ’Breeding traits’, & ‘Scientifically assessing animal welfare - possibilities and limits’.
